To Everything a Season is a beautifully-crafted personal and reflective account of the changing seasons and the rolling years, in and around a particular village on the edge of the Cambridgeshire fens.  It is an uplifting celebration of nature and man’s connection with the land, and about change: what was, what is, what will be.

The book is rooted in Charles Moseley’s daily observations about his village today and its past: the local people, the wildlife, fields and woods, the highlights and routines of the place and its inhabitants.  His fenland country diary – written when he isn’t teaching literature at Cambridge University – touches seamlessly on the miracle of survival, on the permutations and cycles of life itself, the rebirth of the old into something rich and strange.

It is a book suffused with his gentle humour, with a deep love and sympathy for his neighbours and his surroundings.  By focusing on the little world of the fens, he touches on the whole web of life on which everything depends.
