Sharon Lloyd describes the purposes of clipping and the many types of clip.  She looks at the reasons why some horses (and their owners) find clipping stressful, and discusses sympathetic handling techniques to help deal with the difficulties encountered, including safe methods of restraint and the use of complementary therapies.  She also examines the after-care and special requirements of the clipped horse (such as grooming, rugs and feeding), in both summer and winter.
