“In all the dvds in this series Jeremy Michaels FBHS, former Head of Education at the BHS, gives the viewer a guided tour through each exam showing the content of the exam day, what the examiners are looking for and what exactly is involved.



The Preliminary Teaching Test is the first BHS teaching exam. Once candidates have passed this and their Stage 2, they can begin to log the required 500 hours of teaching. To attain the full BHS Assistant Instructor qualification, the first professional teaching qualification on the BHS ladder, candidates must also pass the Stage 3 exam. In this programme, we follow a group of hopeful candidates through the exam and see an example of a flat work lesson, a jumping lesson, a lead rein lesson to children and a lunge lesson. We then follow them through the theory section in the classroom and hear highlights of their lecturettes.



Filmed exclusively at Hartpury College, Jeremy comments at regular intervals during each stage on the performances of the individual candidates, highlighting both good and bad points. He also talks to the examiners and gets them to comment on specific items of interest.
